January 2012

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that 2012 is off to a good start!

After all of the presents are unwrapped and we start to put away the decorations, there is one present we hope stays in your heart throughout the year. The gift of Jesus at Christmas does not have to be a gift we unwrap and put among the other presents. Many of those are used once or twice before they lose their magic. For many of us, after Christmas is over, Jesus, like the wrapping paper, lights and decorations, is hidden away until next year.

You don’t have to have decorations, lights and presents to remember the spirit of Christmas and the greatest gift, a gift that continues to be valuable and new every day. Jesus came to us, living among us, that we might know life to the fullest.

We are blessed to be part of your life and continue to give thanks in this New Year for your children and the Pigtown community. This New Year, make your resolution to unwrap the present of Jesus everyday! Unlike other presents we have received, He requires no batteries, He is faithful, never breaking down or wearing out. There is no need to purchase the upgraded model, simply unwrap Christ, inviting Him into your life, and watch the blessings overflow.

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

December 2011

Church News

Twinkling lights, wrapping paper, Santa Clause and elves, singing carols, shopping and decorated trees. This time of year, all of those things are on the top of our minds. They all tell us that the Christmas season is here!

This month at Kid’s Church we invite you to hear the story of the manager. A baby, born among the animals, visited by wise men and shepherds and even angels. A baby born to be our Savior, a gift from God. We will have a great time hearing the story and making crafts that help us remember the true meaning of Christmas.

December is a super busy time for everyone and there are many great activities happening at the Power House. Everyone is invited to our annual Kid’s Church Christmas Party! We will have a great time playing games, making crafts and eating cookies! We would love to share this Christmas celebration with your entire family. So bring the kids and help us celebrate the coming of Jesus.

Among all of the lights, presents and decorations, let’s not forget to make room for a manger and a baby who brings the Good News of God’s love for each of us! Merry Christmas!

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

November 2011

Welcome to Fall!

This fall we have great things planned at the Power House. We hope that like the lights in your pumpkins, you have found ways to let God’s light shine for all to see!

Now that Halloween is over, we look forward to Thanksgiving and giving thanks for the many blessing that God gives us. Even when days are tough we are reminded of God’s love for each one of us.

This month at Kid’s Church, we are talking about each of our special gifts and how we can use those gifts to help others, and give thanks to God. No matter how big or small we are, each of us has special gifts. And the best way to give praise and thanks to God is to use those gifts to help others. We will also make fun crafts to help us remember these Scripture stories.

What gifts do you have, big or small, that can help your friends, family and neighbors know God? By being a reflection of God’s love and giving thanks we each help build the Kingdom of God Here and Now.

This Thanksgiving season, we give thanks for you and your families and look forward to giving praise and thanks together.

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

October 2011

Hello!

It truly is fall! The weather is getting cooler and some of the leaves are already changing colors. School is in full swing and we hope that in your busy week you will think to stop by on Sunday afternoon and have fun learning about Jesus.

Kid’s Church is a great time to sing songs, be crafty and enjoy a snack together. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces again.

God’s Spirit does not make us afraid, so when you put on your Halloween costumes remember that God is always with you. Also remember that when we put the light in our pumpkins, it shines on for others to see. Think about how you too can let the light inside you to shine as Jesus has taught us.

Please keep the neighborhood in your prayers while we enter this season of Harvest. What can you do to help make this a great Harvest of God’s love?

We are all part of “Building the Kingdom of God Here and Now” spreading the good news of God’s love and so glad that you and your children are part of the Harvest.

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

September 2011

Church News

Hello!

We are excited to welcome in the fall season and the hope for good weather. It’s been a long but exciting summer. Bible School was so much fun, learning about God creatures especially the fish, lions and lambs. Thank you for joining us and making that a great success!

As we roll into fall and get back into the groove of our regular activities, one thing you may notice is the absence of Pastor Jeff for the next few weeks. Pastor Jeff will be taking some time off for health reasons. He is a valuable part of the community and a very hard worker for Christ, we look forward to his return later in the fall. Until then we ask that you all keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Of course, all our regular activities will continue as scheduled. Your kids won’t want to miss the activities this month at Kids’ Church.

All these activities provide a great opportunity for you and your family to invite friends and neighbors to join you when you come to church. Don’t miss this chance to share Christ’s love and welcome others to the church.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. They are a great treasure for us.

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

July 2011

Pastor’s Notes

Hello!

The beginning of July brings us to a time when we reflect on the freedoms we can easily take for granted in this country. It’s good to reflect on them from time to time.

I’m thoughtful right now of our freedom of religion. In so many places in this world today, people who follow Jesus must do so in secret. If they are caught they risk being tortured or killed.

I’m thankful that we can share in Christian discipleship freely in our land. Let’s take full advantage of this freedom by continuing our participation in church activities and inviting our family, friends, and neighbors to join with us.

Thank you for your continued support of The Power House. Your trust and faithfulness are a blessing to this community.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff Anderson
