November 2011

Welcome to Fall!

This fall we have great things planned at the Power House. We hope that like the lights in your pumpkins, you have found ways to let God’s light shine for all to see!

Now that Halloween is over, we look forward to Thanksgiving and giving thanks for the many blessing that God gives us. Even when days are tough we are reminded of God’s love for each one of us.

This month at Kid’s Church, we are talking about each of our special gifts and how we can use those gifts to help others, and give thanks to God. No matter how big or small we are, each of us has special gifts. And the best way to give praise and thanks to God is to use those gifts to help others. We will also make fun crafts to help us remember these Scripture stories.

What gifts do you have, big or small, that can help your friends, family and neighbors know God? By being a reflection of God’s love and giving thanks we each help build the Kingdom of God Here and Now.

This Thanksgiving season, we give thanks for you and your families and look forward to giving praise and thanks together.

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

October 2011

Hello!

It truly is fall! The weather is getting cooler and some of the leaves are already changing colors. School is in full swing and we hope that in your busy week you will think to stop by on Sunday afternoon and have fun learning about Jesus.

Kid’s Church is a great time to sing songs, be crafty and enjoy a snack together. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces again.

God’s Spirit does not make us afraid, so when you put on your Halloween costumes remember that God is always with you. Also remember that when we put the light in our pumpkins, it shines on for others to see. Think about how you too can let the light inside you to shine as Jesus has taught us.

Please keep the neighborhood in your prayers while we enter this season of Harvest. What can you do to help make this a great Harvest of God’s love?

We are all part of “Building the Kingdom of God Here and Now” spreading the good news of God’s love and so glad that you and your children are part of the Harvest.

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

Church News

Hello!

We are excited to welcome in the fall season and the hope for good weather. It’s been a long but exciting summer. Bible School was so much fun, learning about God creatures especially the fish, lions and lambs. Thank you for joining us and making that a great success!

As we roll into fall and get back into the groove of our regular activities, one thing you may notice is the absence of Pastor Jeff for the next few weeks. Pastor Jeff will be taking some time off for health reasons. He is a valuable part of the community and a very hard worker for Christ, we look forward to his return later in the fall. Until then we ask that you all keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Of course, all our regular activities will continue as scheduled. Your kids won’t want to miss the activities this month at Kids’ Church.

All these activities provide a great opportunity for you and your family to invite friends and neighbors to join you when you come to church. Don’t miss this chance to share Christ’s love and welcome others to the church.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. They are a great treasure for us.

In Christ,

The Power House Youth Team

July 2011

Pastor’s Notes

Hello!

The beginning of July brings us to a time when we reflect on the freedoms we can easily take for granted in this country. It’s good to reflect on them from time to time.

I’m thoughtful right now of our freedom of religion. In so many places in this world today, people who follow Jesus must do so in secret. If they are caught they risk being tortured or killed.

I’m thankful that we can share in Christian discipleship freely in our land. Let’s take full advantage of this freedom by continuing our participation in church activities and inviting our family, friends, and neighbors to join with us.

Thank you for your continued support of The Power House. Your trust and faithfulness are a blessing to this community.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff Anderson

June 2011

Pastor’s Notes

Hello!

The warm weather reminds us that school will soon be out for the summer. I hope you take the opportunity to enjoy some additional time with your kids while they are off of school.

You’ll be glad to know that Kids’ Church continues on its regular schedule throughout the summer. We look forward to seeing your child each Sunday from 3:00 – 3:45 p.m.

Of course, if you’re the parent of a child who is getting ready to start high school, you know that their days of Kids’ Church are winding down. Please encourage them to participate in Pizza Church and other activities for high school students.

One family activity I would encourage you to consider this summer is Morning Worship each Sunday from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. If you are looking for a church home we would welcome you here.

Thank you for your continued support of Kids’ Church. We truly appreciate it.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff Anderson

Too Early for College???

Did you know that participating in church can help your kids get to college? This fall, three teens from The Power House are enrolled at Graceland University. More than half of their tuition costs were waved due to being active members of The Power House. Participation in church helped them prepare for college and helped pay the costs. Building good church attendance habits now can really pay off in the future.

May 2011

Pastor’s Notes

Hello!

This is an exciting time of year at Kids’ Church. During this season, we meet many kids who have moved to the area during the winter. Now that the weather is nicer and they’re outside more, they discover The Power House and start participating in Kids’ Church each Sunday.

Have you noticed any new kids on your block in recent weeks? Or maybe you’ve noticed some kids that have been there a while but are now old enough for Kids’ Church. Please be sure to invite them to come to church with your own kids. It’s a great way to make new friendships and share in growing in faith together.

Thank you again for your having your child be a part of The Power House. They are truly a blessing to us.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff Anderson

Peace Pavilion

If your son or daughter is currently in first, third, or fifth grade at School 34, then they’ve probably been participating in the Pigtown Peace Pavilion at The Power House this year. Their classes have been coming over to the church to learn about peacemaking.

I hope the kids have been sharing stories from their experiences with you. Please let the teachers and principals at School 34 know of your support for this work so we can continue to do so in the future.

February 2011

Pastor’s Notes

Hello!

The snow and cold have certainly left no question as to the fact that winter is here.

In just a couple of weeks it will be Valentine’s Day. I encourage you to take some time with your child that day to let them know how much you love them and how important they are to you.

It’s also important for kids to know about God’s love for them. Thank you for letting us be a part of sharing that love with your child at Kids’ Church. Please make sure they continue to come as often as possible so that they can become strong in His love.

We continue to be honored by your trust in us. Thank you for blessing us with your children.

In Christ,

Pastor Jeff Anderson

Going Green

As you may have noticed, Kids’ Church News and Pizza Church Press are now being printed front and back on the same sheet of paper. Since so many households get copies of both newsletters, this will cut our paper use nearly in half. Be sure to check the other side of this newsletter for more information.

Weather

Just a quick reminder about our weather closings and delays policy:

Kids’ Church --- Kids’ Church does not close due to the weather. If the kids can find their way to the church on Sundays at 3:00 we’ll be there with activities for them.

SonRisers --- Wednesday morning’s SonRisers time follows the Baltimore City Schools’ closing and delay plans. We close when schools close and are delayed when schools are delayed.
